There's such an opportunity for good, proactive clinical care to integrate with the work that happens in an incredible gym community like Ambitious Athletics. And yet, these two areas that are so intertwined with health, oftentimes stay siloed and completely separate.

Hi, I’m Dr. Jack Penner

My Approach

Something that has always really stood out to me about the Ambitious Athletics community is not only the ways in which all of you take training so seriously, but this very clear commitment to using it as a way to live a larger, fuller, and more vital life as an individual, as an athlete, and through all of the different roles that you may play in life. My commitment to you is that ambitious athletics medical is going to hold that exact same spirit.

Our relationship isn't going to be about using blood work and biomarkers to biohack our way to the perfect lab values. What this is actually about to saying, hey, how do we gather more data, more information about what's happening for you and your body, and use that to augment what you're doing in the gym, what you're doing with your nutrition, what you're doing from a lifestyle perspective, and if needed, what more advanced medical tools may be necessary to help you live the fullest, most vital version of yourself, not only now, but over the next 10, 20, 40, 50 plus years.

More About Dr. Jack

Dr. Penner is a board-certified internal medicine physician whose approach is shaped by both his clinical training and a lifelong engagement with sport and performance.

After earning his medical degree at Georgetown University and completing residency and chief residency at UCSF, he founded Kuros to integrate rigorous clinical medicine with performance-informed, preventive, and lifestyle-based care.

His background as an NCAA Division I athlete and strength and conditioning coach informs a practical, systems-based approach to helping patients build durable, whole-person health across decades while staying grounded in their values, goals, and the lives they want to continue living. Ultimately, he wants every member of his practice to be able to do the things they love with the people they love for decades without worrying if their health is up to the task.

When he’s not working with patients, you’ll find him at the gym, in the ocean, or out on the trails, testing the principles he brings to his practice and staying connected to his own vision of a well-lived life.
